Breaking Through the Noise: How to Stand Out on Social Media

Breaking Through the Noise: How to Stand Out on Social Media
Ever feel like social media has become one giant echo chamber? For the past two months, I had been feeling so resistant about going on social media - Facebook in particular. And for me, that was unusual. Facebook has been the platform where I’ve had the most success in my business, the place where I’ve built relationships, grown my audience, and connected with like-minded entrepreneurs. But lately? Every time I logged in, I felt annoyed, uninspired, and frustrated by what I was seeing.

So many entrepreneurs were just so loud about selling, yet there was no value. Every post seemed to scream, "Buy my stuff!" "Join my team!" "I made 30K in three months—so can you!" It was all about them, and I couldn’t find any real connection in it.

I love engaging and making genuine connections on Facebook, but I started to notice something: It had become harder to engage because everything felt transactional. And it wasn’t just the posts - when I’d reach out to someone in Messenger with the intention of starting a real conversation, the first thing they’d do was pitch me their offer. No relationship-building. No genuine interest. Just straight to the sale. Why do people think this is okay? It made me want to ignore the message and move on.

I get it - people are excited about their businesses, and they want to succeed. But desperate, copy-paste marketing isn’t the way. Instead of drawing people in, it pushes them away. And let’s be honest - success doesn’t grow out of desperation. People can smell that a mile away.

I want to share with you how to bring real value to social media, create genuine connections, and shift your approach from chasing sales to serving your audience. Because here’s the truth: everyone’s business journey is different. Some are just starting, while others who are hitting 30K months have been in business for years. You can’t compare someone’s step 1 to someone else’s step 2,000.

The shift happens when you stop focusing on what you can get from your audience and start focusing on what you can give. Success comes from:
  • Consistency in showing up and serving, not just selling.
  • Giving value that genuinely helps your audience.
  • Leading from a servant’s heart, not a place of scarcity or comparison.
If you’ve been struggling to stand out in the sea of social media noise, let’s dive into the ways you can create meaningful content that connects, serves, and ultimately grows your business in a way that feels aligned with your faith and purpose.

1. Stop Consuming & Start Creating
One of the biggest reasons people struggle to create original content is they spend too much time-consuming. If you’re constantly scrolling, comparing, and analyzing what everyone else is doing, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking you have to say the same things to be successful.

Instead, shift your mindset:
  • Limit your time on social media and spend more time in creation mode.
  • Unfollow or mute accounts that make you feel like you “have” to do what they’re doing.
  • Journal about your own ideas before scrolling - what do YOU want to say and share?
  • Trust that your voice, your story, and your expertise matter - even if no one else is saying it.

2. Serve First, Sell Second
Social media works best when you use it to build trust and relationships, not just sell. Your audience isn’t there to be sold to 24/7—they’re there to be inspired, entertained, and educated.
Instead of focusing on what you want from your audience, flip the script and ask:

  • What does my audience need today?
  • How can I solve a problem, encourage them, or offer value?
  • If I wasn’t trying to sell anything, what would I share?
When you lead with value, people naturally become curious about what you do. They see you as a go-to person, and when they’re ready to invest, you’ll be top of mind.

3. Share Your Story - Not Just Another Sales Post
The best way to stand out on social media? Be yourself. Your story, your journey, your personality - these are things no one else can copy.
Instead of posting another generic “Join me!” graphic, try:
  • Sharing a personal experience that relates to what you offer.
  • Talking about your struggles before you found a solution.
  • Showing behind-the-scenes of what your business or faith journey looks like.
People don’t just buy into businesses - they buy into people. When they feel connected to you, they’ll trust what you have to say.

4. Let Your Faith & Values Guide Your Content
If social media feels overwhelming, it’s time to filter everything through your faith and values. Instead of asking, What’s trending?, ask:
  • What does God want me to share today?
  • How can I reflect my values in my content?
  • Am I posting this to serve, or am I posting out of comparison or pressure?
Your audience doesn’t need another sales pitch - they need someone who leads with integrity, faith, and service.

5. Be Consistent, But Don’t Be Everywhere
One mistake many entrepreneurs make? Trying to be on every platform, every day. Instead of spreading yourself thin, choose 1-2 platforms where your audience is most active and go all in.
  • Show up consistently - but don’t burn out.
  • Focus on quality over quantity (2-3 solid posts a week are better than daily low-value content)
  • Use automation tools (like scheduling posts) to give yourself more breathing room.

Final Thoughts: Social Media Doesn’t Have to Be So Loud

You don’t have to blend in to succeed on social media. You don’t have to copy others, follow every trend, or constantly chase engagement. Instead, focus on your voice, your value, and your audience. When you create content that serves, inspires, and reflects who you are, you naturally attract the right people.

So next time you scroll past another “Buy my stuff!” post, remember - you were called to create differently. Lead with value, stand firm in your purpose, and trust that God will bring the right people to your business.

Get to Know Jenna!

Hello and welcome - I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Jenna, a Christian woman in business navigating celiac life, cozy routines, and the kind of leadership that begins with meeting with the Lord. For years, I tried building my business the world’s way and found myself tired, scattered, and striving. Everything shifted when I slowed down, invited God back into my work, and learned to build my life and business from a place of peace instead of pressure.

Now I share gentle, faith-led routines for women who are craving clarity, simplicity, and a more intentional way to live and lead. Around here, you’ll find journaling tips and prompts, cozy routines, quiet-time ideas, tips for taking care of yourself as a leader, and encouragement for creating a life that feels sustainable and aligned with who God is shaping you to become. I offer courses and resources for Christian women in business, but they flow from a place of rest, overflow, and deep connection with the Lord.

And because I believe our everyday life matters just as much as our leadership, you’ll also find pieces of my world woven throughout this space - I’m a dog mom to two sweet English Springer Spaniels, Zoey and Lily, who join me on daily walks and summer boating days with my husband. I love reading cozy mysteries, strolling the gluten-free aisles to discover new finds, learning and growing through personal development, and baking gluten-free treats in the kitchen. My heart is to help you slow down, hear God’s voice again, and build a life, and if you choose, a business that reflects His peace, purpose, and presence.
