Fall has always felt like an invitation to slow down. The cooler mornings. The golden light. The way the trees shed what's no longer needed without fear. And for those of us building businesses with God at the center, this shift in season can also be a powerful invitation to pause, to reset, and to embrace soft living with bold faith. Because you weren’t called to hustle your way through another quarter. You were called to steward what’s in your hands, not strive to prove your worth. Let’s talk about what it means to live and lead this fall with intention, rest, and rhythms that actually support your life, not compete with it.
What Is Soft Living (and Why Does It Matter for Christian Women in Business)?
What Is Soft Living (and Why Does It Matter for Christian Women in Business)?
Soft living doesn’t mean doing less out of laziness; it means doing what matters with grace. It’s a countercultural way of living that says: “I will no longer equate my worth with my productivity.”
In the context of business, soft living means:
- Prioritizing wellness and spiritual alignment before strategy
- Creating from overflow instead of obligation
- Honoring your season and capacity
- Protecting your peace as you pursue purpose
This lifestyle isn’t about stepping back from growth; it’s about making sure your growth is rooted in the right things.

My Own Fall Reset: Slowing Down to Speed Up
Last fall, I hit a point where I knew something needed to shift. I had been running at full speed, trying to “keep up” with everyone else’s launch cycles, marketing plans, and endless hustle culture standards. And while I was doing all the right things, I was running on empty. That’s when the Lord invited me to slow down—not as a punishment, but as a path back to peace. I started waking up a little earlier for quiet time again. I swapped pressure-filled planning sessions with prayer journaling. I cut down my to-do list and focused only on the tasks that truly moved the needle.
And you know what happened? I felt joy return, energy return, and my creativity return. That’s the power of soft living led by bold faith, and I want the same for you.
Rest Is a Form of Stewardship
Rest Is a Form of Stewardship
In a world that praises hustle, rest can feel irresponsible. But in the Kingdom, rest is actually a sign of trust.
When you:
- Pause to pray before planning…
- Set boundaries around your energy…
- Allow yourself to go for a walk instead of pushing through the fatigue…
You’re not being lazy. You’re being wise. You’re honoring the truth that you’re a vessel, not a machine. Letting your nervous system reset, caring for your body, and starting your day with the Lord isn’t weakness, it’s where true leadership begins.

Rhythms Over Rigid Routines
Rigid routines say: “Stick to the plan no matter what.” Rhythms say: “Let’s build something sustainable and Spirit-led.”
This season, ask yourself:
- What rhythms of rest can I build into my week?
- How can I batch or simplify my content strategy?
- What do I actually need to be doing to serve my people well?
Let go of the fluff. Let go of the FOMO. Let go of the pressure to always be doing more. Instead, choose less, but more meaningful.
How I’m Leading Softly & Strategically This Season
How I’m Leading Softly & Strategically This Season
Here’s what soft living looks like in my business this fall:
Mornings:
I begin my day with prayer, Bible reading, and 5–10 minutes of gratitude journaling. I drink my favorite cozy tea from Art of Tea (Pacific Coast Mint or Bright Eyed have been my go-tos lately), diffuse some essential oils, and ask God to guide my day.
Work blocks:
I choose 1–2 focused tasks per day, either Blogging, Pinterest graphics, meeting with a client, or updating a resource like my Content Strategy Toolkit. I’ve stopped trying to do everything in one day and instead focus on doing the right things well.
Evenings:
I rest, walk my dogs, read or journal, and protect my sleep and energy. I don’t check emails late. I’ve learned that peace is worth protecting.

Final Thoughts: You Don't Have to Keep Up
You weren’t created to burn out trying to build something beautiful. You were created to walk in partnership with God, step by faithful step.
