The Winter Season: A Time of Hidden Growth and Holy Rest in Business
We don’t often talk about the slower seasons in business—the ones where growth feels invisible and momentum feels out of reach. In a world that rewards hustle, visibility, and nonstop movement, slowing down can feel like falling behind. But what if the pause isn't punishment? What if it’s part of God’s process? Today, I want to invite you into a different perspective on business growth - one that honors the quiet, the waiting, and the unseen work God is doing in you.

We live in a world that celebrates momentum.
Loud wins.
Fast growth. Always being “on.”

But if you’ve ever felt like God suddenly hit pause on your business… or that your creativity, clarity, or client flow has gone quiet… You may be in a season that doesn’t get talked about enough. Welcome to WinterIt’s the season that looks like nothing is happening, but under the surface, everything is being prepared.

What Is the Winter Season?
Inspired by the rhythms in Your Beautiful Purpose by Susie Larson, Winter is a time when God calls us to step back, not to quit, but to rest. To slow down. To allow the deeper work to unfold.

In business, this might look like:
  • A drop in engagement, income, or clarity
  • Needing a break from launching, marketing, or creating
  • Feeling a holy nudge to quiet the noise and tend to your heart
Winter can feel uncomfortable. Especially if you're used to measuring your worth by your productivity. But here’s the truth: not all growth is visible. Some of the most important work happens beneath the surface.

My Winter Season
In December 2024, God clearly called me into a season of rest. Not because I had failed. Not because things were falling apart. But because He wanted to realign my heart. At first, I resisted. I wanted to keep building. I wanted to be seen, to be useful.
But I quickly realized that rest doesn’t mean you’re doing nothing. It means you’re doing the most important thing: staying close to Him.

During that time, I still worked, but I slowed my pace. I prioritized presence over pressure. I gave myself permission to step back from the noise and tune back in to God’s voice. And slowly, something began to shift.

I started to see what needed to be pruned and what was no longer aligned. As well as what had been born out of hustle instead of obedience. Winter gave me the space to hear God again - and the courage to trust Him with the pace and direction of my business.

What God Might Be Doing in Your Winter Season
  • Strengthening your roots – So when growth comes again, it can be sustained
  • Revealing hidden areas of burnout – So healing can happen in the quiet
  • Realigning your heart – So your next steps are led by purpose, not pressure
  • Rebuilding your identity – So you remember your worth is not tied to your work
Winter is not a punishment. It’s preparation.
It’s where God whispers what He couldn’t say in the noise. It’s where He brings things into alignment - not just in your business, but in your soul.

How to Lean into the Winter Season
  • Honor the rest. Don’t force productivity when God is inviting stillness.
  • Stay rooted in His Word. Winter is the perfect time to journal, reflect, and let Scripture renew your mind.
  • Evaluate gently. What parts of your business need pruning? What’s no longer aligned?
  • Nourish your whole self. Focus on spiritual, emotional, and physical wellness. This is a time to refill what’s been depleted.
This season may feel slow… but slow isn’t wrong. Slow can be sacred.

Reflection Questions
  1. Have I been resisting rest - even when I know God is inviting me into it?
  2. What is being pruned or restructured in my business right now?
  3. How can I draw closer to God and embrace rest without guilt?

Get to Know Jenna!

Hello and welcome - I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Jenna, a Christian woman in business navigating celiac life, cozy routines, and the kind of leadership that begins with meeting with the Lord. For years, I tried building my business the world’s way and found myself tired, scattered, and striving. Everything shifted when I slowed down, invited God back into my work, and learned to build my life and business from a place of peace instead of pressure.

Now I share gentle, faith-led routines for women who are craving clarity, simplicity, and a more intentional way to live and lead. Around here, you’ll find journaling tips and prompts, cozy routines, quiet-time ideas, tips for taking care of yourself as a leader, and encouragement for creating a life that feels sustainable and aligned with who God is shaping you to become. I offer courses and resources for Christian women in business, but they flow from a place of rest, overflow, and deep connection with the Lord.

And because I believe our everyday life matters just as much as our leadership, you’ll also find pieces of my world woven throughout this space - I’m a dog mom to two sweet English Springer Spaniels, Zoey and Lily, who join me on daily walks and summer boating days with my husband. I love reading cozy mysteries, strolling the gluten-free aisles to discover new finds, learning and growing through personal development, and baking gluten-free treats in the kitchen. My heart is to help you slow down, hear God’s voice again, and build a life, and if you choose, a business that reflects His peace, purpose, and presence.
