Have you ever reached a point in your business where it felt like… nothing was working?
You’re showing up.
You’re creating the content.
You’re praying, trusting, trying.
But the momentum just isn’t there. The results don’t match the effort. And deep down, you start asking the harder questions:
“Did God really call me to this?”
“Am I still on the right path?”
“Should I pivot - or walk away altogether?”
“Am I still on the right path?”
“Should I pivot - or walk away altogether?”
If you’ve been in this space, you’re not alone. You’re not failing. You may be in what Ashley Morgan Jackson calls The Wrestle Season in her powerful book Tired of Trying.
What Is the Wrestle Season?
The Wrestle Season is the space between your obedience and your breakthrough. It’s when you’re doing “all the right things,” but the fruit hasn’t come yet. It’s when you feel unseen, uncertain, and spiritually stretched. It’s frustrating. It’s refining.
And it’s one of the most sacred places you can walk through in business, because it’s where God invites you to wrestle with Him, not walk away from Him.
And it’s one of the most sacred places you can walk through in business, because it’s where God invites you to wrestle with Him, not walk away from Him.
In Genesis 32, Jacob wrestles with God through the night. It’s a moment of tension, struggle, and holding on for dear life. But by morning, he receives a blessing - and a new name. Sometimes, wrestling is how we’re remade. Not through the wins. Not through the followers or the sales. But through the nights we stay with God and refuse to let go.

My Own Wrestle Season

My Own Wrestle Season
I didn’t have language for what I was going through until I read Tired of Trying during my 31-day break from social media.
That month was full of deep reflection. I wasn’t posting, promoting, or pushing. I was sitting with God and asking the hard questions.
I realized I was carrying a lot of pressure:
The pressure to perform.
The pressure to prove myself.
The pressure to keep growing - even when I felt dry.
The pressure to perform.
The pressure to prove myself.
The pressure to keep growing - even when I felt dry.
I wondered if I needed to completely pivot. Or even close this chapter of business altogether. But somewhere in that quiet, God reminded me:
“The outcomes are Mine. Your obedience is enough.”
“The outcomes are Mine. Your obedience is enough.”
It was like a weight lifted. The pressure broke. And I could breathe again. God didn’t want me to hustle harder. He wanted me to stay close. He was sharing with me to remember that my value wasn’t in the work - but in being His.

What to Do in the Wrestle Season

What to Do in the Wrestle Season
You may not be able to strategize your way out of a Wrestle Season, but here are a few things you can do:
- Be honest with God.
Bring your questions. Bring your doubts. Bring your weariness. He can handle all of it. - Release the results.
Your worth and your calling aren’t measured by metrics. Surrender the outcomes and trust the process. - Stay close.
Don’t isolate. Don’t run. Lean into prayer, the Word, and a trusted community. - Let the wrestle reveal your true identity.
Just like Jacob, you may come out of this season with a new name—a deeper understanding of who you are and Who you belong to.

You're Being Built, Not Forgotten
If you’re in a Wrestle Season right now, I want to encourage you: This space is not a setback - it’s sacred ground.
You are not behind. You are not failing.
You are being formed.
Let God meet you in the questions.
Let Him remind you of the promise.
Let Him hold you even when nothing makes sense.
Let Him remind you of the promise.
Let Him hold you even when nothing makes sense.
He is working in the waiting.
He is shaping something deeper than strategy.
And He is faithful to complete what He started in you.
Reflection Questions
He is shaping something deeper than strategy.
And He is faithful to complete what He started in you.
Reflection Questions
- What am I wrestling with in this season of my business?
- Have I been striving for results instead of staying rooted in obedience?
- What would it look like to surrender the outcome and trust God fully right now?
