There’s something sacred about the way the world feels in the early morning hours.
Before the notifications.
Before the to-do list.
Before the swirl of content creation, coaching calls, or client work begins.
Before the to-do list.
Before the swirl of content creation, coaching calls, or client work begins.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a morning girl. Even as a kid, I loved waking up early - there’s something about the stillness, the possibility, and the presence of God that feels especially close. And now, as a Christian woman running a business, leading others, and managing life with an autoimmune condition (Celiac), my morning routine has become more than a preference - it’s become a lifeline. A way to reset my body, mind, and spirit each day. A rhythm that helps me lead with clarity, energy, and purpose.
Whether you’re trying to lower cortisol, deepen your faith, or simply feel better in your body, this post will walk you through what my mornings look like and how you can create your own routine that honors your health and calling.
How It All Started: Lily, Zoey, and a 5am Wake-Up Call
How It All Started: Lily, Zoey, and a 5am Wake-Up Call
The funny thing is… my current routine began with a dog. When Lily was just 8 weeks old, she started waking me up at 5am. And 9 years later? We’re still going strong with our 5am rhythm. I’ve come to treasure those early moments - before the world wakes up, before the pressure sets in. Every morning, I make a cup of my favorite functional coffee, head to the living room with Lily and Zoey (my two English Springer Spaniels), and begin my quiet time with the Lord. It’s a routine that’s rooted in peace - and it’s changed everything for how I show up.
Why a Morning Routine Matters (Especially for Christian Entrepreneurs)
Why a Morning Routine Matters (Especially for Christian Entrepreneurs)
If you’re a faith-driven woman building a business, your mornings matter more than you think. Science tells us that the first hour of your day sets the tone for your cortisol levels. And spiritually? That same hour sets the tone for how we hear from God, prioritize our tasks, and lead ourselves well.
We don’t need more hustle.
We need more Holy Spirit.
We need more Holy Spirit.
That’s why my mornings are designed to care for both my spiritual and physical wellness, from the inside out.

My Full Morning Routine (Faith + Energy + Cortisol Support)
Wake Up with Purpose (Around 5am)
My alarm doesn’t go off anymore - Lily makes sure of that. I roll out of bed, give my pups some love, and head to the kitchen to make my functional coffee. I drink it iced and sometimes add a splash of my favorite Nut Pods dairy-free creamer (from Thrive Market - it's so good). This isn’t just caffeine - it’s clean energy without the crash, which is key for anyone managing cortisol or chronic fatigue.
Quiet Time with the Lord
Quiet Time with the Lord
With my coffee in hand, I head to the living room and settle into my chair with Zoey and Lily.
Here’s what my quiet time usually includes:
- A daily devotion (I’m currently reading Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence by Sarah Young)
- One chapter from my Bible (I’m loving the John Maxwell Leadership Bible, NIV - the leadership commentary is powerful)
- Gratitude journaling
- Prayer journaling
- Sometimes a “word dump” of thoughts, dreams, or goals
- A few pages from a personal development book
This part of my routine grounds me. It helps me process emotions, hear from God, and begin the day focused on what really matters.

Hydration Break with Purpose
By mid-morning, I transition to the next layer of my wellness routine - sipping on my favorite Watermelon Berry Hydration.
It tastes amazing and gives me a clean, energizing boost that carries me through the afternoon. I’ve found it works great as a pre-workout (especially when paired with our Build supplement) and helps support adrenal health - crucial for lowering stress and stabilizing energy.
Pro tip: I drink my hydration mid-morning instead of in the afternoon - otherwise the caffeine affects my sleep! Everyone is different though!
Tidy + Movement
Tidy + Movement
After my quiet time, I’ll usually take 10–15 minutes to do a quick tidy-up or start some laundry. It helps my mind feel clear and my home feel peaceful.
Then, I move into my workout time, which usually includes:
- A walk on the trail with worship music
- A Pilates flow or stretching session
Movement is a form of worship. It’s how I honor the body God gave me. It helps me feel strong, focused, and emotionally regulated - especially as someone juggling leadership, business, and health.

Why Cortisol-Supporting Routines Matter
Here’s the deal: your morning cortisol levels naturally spike to help you wake up. But when you start your day with stress, chaos, or no fuel at all - you can throw your entire system off balance.
For years, I didn’t realize that my 3pm crashes, brain fog, and low energy were linked to adrenal fatigue and stress. Even though I was eating clean (hello, gluten-free living!), I was still running on empty. The missing piece? Supportive rhythms - physically and spiritually.
Now, my routine helps me:
- Avoid the afternoon crash
- Stay focused and energized throughout the day
- Feel grounded in my faith no matter what my schedule looks like
